The Dolphins held practice yesterday at Nova Southeastern University. Check out this article for my thoughts on Dolphins camp, the team, and also for some great interviews. When I heard about the Edgerrin James Football Camp in Ave Maria, Florida, I knew Pro Interviews had to take a 2 hour drive there and be in attendance. I have heard throughout the last few years that former Miami Hurricanes RB was a class act. I read an article that he continued to give back to his hometown of Immokalee and to underprivileged youth. In the past, Edgerrin James paid for these free football camps and organized it, but he also continues giving something that has no dollar value. He gives his hometown his time.
In the 2013 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins used their 2nd round pick to select former Boise State Broncos, CB Jamar Taylor. He joined me for an exclusive one-on-one interview. Jamar Taylor talks about growing up in the rough area of San Diego, his time at Boise State, his off seasons, and what it was like to be drafted by the Dolphins. Taylor was a team captain throughout the entirety of his senior year, and earned First-Team All Mountain West Conference Honors after his senior season performance. He led a top passing defense at Boise State. Check out our interview.
Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman, Calais Campbell is all about giving back to the community. After graduating from the University of Miami in 2007, his red-shirt junior season, he decided to leave for the NFL. He was selected in the 2nd round, 50th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Cardinals. He has been very productive on and off the field. He is currently involved in a project with the United Way where you can volunteer to lower the high school dropout rate. Check out the article for our unique interview. Read more
Back in the day, the University of Miami students would not take part in the NFL Combine. They would tell scouts to come watch them run drills in their backyard, at their school’s Pro Day. The U had a swagger about them. Today, with Head Coach Al Golden, the University of Miami is continuing to develop and mature football players down in Coral Gables. I attended my first ever Pro Day, and I was excited for the opportunity to talk to future stars in this league.
Leon Searcy played college football at the University of Miami. He is one of few players who can claim that he won three National Championships in his collegiate career. He was drafted in the 1st round in the 1992 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also played Right Tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and retired after an eleven-year career. Check out our interview that was done shortly after the NFL season started.
