08/09/13 – Dolphins vs. Jaguars

Often times, the first preseason game, both teams go in “dry” or without a gameplan. This tactic really allows for coaches to find players who can “play football” and see who separates themselves from the entire pact of new members on the team. This is the Dolphins second game this week, and they started game-planning earlier in the week. However, after interviewing Jaguars players, they didn’t organize a game-plan. Before the beginning of the game, the Dolphins had the advantage, and the final score with Miami ahead, 27-3, reflected just that.

Dolphins OTAs on 5/29, Interviews Included

I have been to training camps and games before, but I have never before covered an OTA. I had a lot to learn, and learn quickly. The way the Miami Dolphins practice is fast and intense. They have multiple players going head-to-head on different teams battling each other. Even with the speed, it was hard to not notice, that if a coach were teaching a player, he would immediately slow down and tell the player what to do, and how to do. Read more »

Undrafted out of FAMU, Cardinals Rookie DL, Padric Scott Interview

Former FAMU Nose Tackle, Padric Scott was prepared for this year’s 2013 NFL Draft. Without a NFL Combine invite, he was still hoping for his name to be called on the third day of this year’s NFL Draft. Unfortunately, his name was not called, but he most recently signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. He originally played for Stanford out of high school, but transferred and decided to play for the Florida A&M Rattlers and Coach Joe Taylor for the rest of his collegiate career. Current Chargers OL, Former Alabama and Draft Prospect, D.J. Fluker Interview

D.J. Fluker is projected to be a first round draft pick by almost every NFL Draft Analyst. Fluker played at Alabama and was First-Team All SEC this past year after winning his third National Championship. He was a force that could not be reckoned with on Bama’s offensive line. There hasn’t been a stronger right tackle prospect in this year’s class. Look for his name to be called tonight, but first, check out our exclusive interview with him.

NFL Draft Sleeper, FAMU LB, Brandon Hepburn Interview

Former LB, Brandon Hepburn is prepared for this year’s NFL Draft. After recently attending the NFL Scouting Combine, he is waiting for his name to be called this Draft Day. Brandon Hepburn, originally from New York, was a preferred walk-on at Florida A&M University at the start of Coach Joe Taylor’s tenure. He made an impact during his junior and senior seasons at FAMU and is considered to be a late round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. Former University of Charleston, Chiefs RB, Jordan Roberts Interview

Running back, Jordan Roberts transferred to University of Charleston after his redshirt freshman season at West Virginia.  Jordan Roberts took on a leadership role immediately at Charleston, and contributed heavily in many different phases of the game. He set school records and NCAA DII records during his time playing football. He rushed for over 3000 yards and over 40 touchdowns during his time at Charleston. He is a sleeper in this 2013 NFL Draft, and may be a small school steal that a team takes a chance on. Read more »

NFL Draft Prospect, Syracuse WR, Alec Lemon Interview

Former Syracuse WR, Alec Lemon shares his journey with us. Alec Lemon was recruited to play at Syracuse by Greg Robinson, however he was one of three players that Doug Marrone decided to keep their scholarship. He played in games all four years at Syracuse and caught passes to become a leader in the record books. He is 2nd all-time in receiving yards and 3rd all-time in receiving touchdowns for Syracuse. The University of Miami Pro Day, Interviews Included

Back in the day, the University of Miami students would not take part in the NFL Combine. They would tell scouts to come watch them run drills in their backyard, at their school’s Pro Day. The U had a swagger about them. Today, with Head Coach Al Golden, the University of Miami is continuing to develop and mature football players down in Coral Gables. I attended my first ever Pro Day, and I was excited for the opportunity to talk to future stars in this league.

CalU of Pennsylvania, NFL Draft Prospect, Seahawks OT, Rishaw Johnson Interview

Rishaw Johnson was a teammate of NY Giants DB, Chad Jones in high school after being forced to move because of Hurricane Katrina. He then went on to play at Ole Miss University. Due to what he calls ‘some big-time mistakes’, he was kicked off the football team in 2010. He then transferred to a DII powerhouse, CalU Pennsylvania. He started all twelve games this past season at Offensive Guard for CalU. He earned DII All-American also. He was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. He entered the 2012 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed a UDFA contract with the Seattle Seahawks. This interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft.

Virginia Tech NFL Draft Prospect FS, Eddie Whitley Interview

Eddie Whitley played college football at Virginia Tech University. During his time (2008-2011) at VT, he played in 54 games, and started 28 total. He started his career playing Special Teams, and then moved into the starting free safety role. He totaled 189 tackles, six tackles for loss, four interceptions, twelve pass deflections, and forced three fumbles. He has declared entry for the 2012 NFL Draft, and is projected to either be a seventh round or undrafted free agent. He could become a key Special Teamer. [UPDATE: EW earned a spot in the Dallas Cowboys’ 90-man roster.]

Connecticut NFL Draft Prospect OT, Mike Ryan Interview

Mike Ryan went to University of Connecticut. While at UConn, he started 32 games, playing in 34. He was best known for his versatility and agility on the offensive line. In 2010, he was nominated to receive First-Team All Big-East honors, and in 2011, he received second-team All Big-East honors. He is known for his versatility on the offensive line, and can play both guard positions as well as both tackles. MR talks about everything he can in this exclusive interview. This interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft. [UPDATE: He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals after the NFL Draft.]

Western Michigan NFL Draft Prospect WR, Jordan White Interview

Jordan White attended North Ridgeville High School. He then went on to play at the Western Michigan University. He totaled 306 receptions, 4190 yards, and 32 touchdowns during his collegiate career. He was All-MAC First Team in 2010 and 2011. He was also WMU’s first consensus All-American in school history. He broke school records at WR that were previously set by current Green Bay Packers WR, Greg Jennings. He has declared for the 2012 NFL Draft. This interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft. Washington State NFL Draft Prospect OLB, Alex Hoffman-Ellis Interview

Alex Hoffman-Ellis attended Hamilton High School, and he didn’t start playing football until his senior year. From there, he went to play at Moorpark College, and in eleven starts, he totaled ninety-one tackles and two sacks. He then transferred to Washington State University. He started since his sophomore year, and played in 35 games with 33 starts, and 253 tackles, four interceptions (returning two of them for touchdowns, seven pass breakups. He is entered for the 2012 NFL Draft. This interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft.

Pittsburgh NFL Draft Prospect DE/OLB, Brandon Lindsey Interview

Brandon Lindsey attended Aliquippa High School and was a teammate of Darrelle Revis (Jets DB). He then went to play at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a teammate of Greg Romeus (Saints) and Jabaal Sheard (Browns). He played defensive end during his sophomore and junior seasons. When Pitt changed their defense, he switched to outside linebacker for his senior season. BL was second-team All-Big East during both his junior and senior year. He entered the 2012 NFL Draft. This interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft.

Bethune Cookman NFL Draft Prospect DE, Ryan Davis Interview

Ryan Davis played college football in the MEAC at Bethune Cookman University. He was recruited to play TE at BCU, but ended up making the switch to defensive end/outside linebacker. During his four year career, he totaled he was there, he totaled 190 tackles, 44.5 tackles for loss, 24.5 sacks, and forced twelve fumbles. During his senior season, he was nominated to be the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year. He is entering the 2012 NFL Draft, and projected to go in the mid-rounds. The interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
