Dolphins OTAs on 5/29, Interviews Included

I have been to training camps and games before, but I have never before covered an OTA. I had a lot to learn, and learn quickly. The way the Miami Dolphins practice is fast and intense. They have multiple players going head-to-head on different teams battling each other. Even with the speed, it was hard to not notice, that if a coach were teaching a player, he would immediately slow down and tell the player what to do, and how to do. Read more »

Western Michigan NFL Draft Prospect WR, Jordan White Interview

Jordan White attended North Ridgeville High School. He then went on to play at the Western Michigan University. He totaled 306 receptions, 4190 yards, and 32 touchdowns during his collegiate career. He was All-MAC First Team in 2010 and 2011. He was also WMU’s first consensus All-American in school history. He broke school records at WR that were previously set by current Green Bay Packers WR, Greg Jennings. He has declared for the 2012 NFL Draft. This interview was conducted before the 2012 NFL Draft. He was drafted in the 7th round by the New York Jets. Read more »

East Carolina NFL Draft Prospect WR, Lance Lewis Interview

Lance Lewis played football at Concord High School in North Carolina. Afterwards, in 2007, he went to California to play at West Hills CC in California. In 2008, he did not play football. In 2009, he played at East Mississippi CC and led his team to an 11-1 record and to winning the school’s first ever MACJC Championship. He then went to East Carolina and in 22 career games (between two seasons), he served as ECU’s go-to receiver. He is entering the 2012 NFL Draft, and is projected as a sleeper in the wide receiver class.

Free Agent WR, Legedu Naanee Interview

Legedu Naanee played college football at Boise State University, and he had seventy-two receptions and twelve touchdowns throughout his entire collegiate career. He entered the 2007 NFL Draft, and was selected in the 5th round, 172nd overall by the San Diego Chargers. He earned loads of playing time, and finished his time in San Diego with 746 yards and three TDs. In 2011, he signed with the Carolina Panthers and had his best season of his young career with forty-four receptions and 467 yards. He has started twenty games in his NFL career, but has played in 69 games. This interview was conducted as he was a free agent. [UPDATE: He is currently fighting for a roster spot on the Miami Dolphins.]

Bills WR, Felton Huggins Interview

Felton Huggins played college football at Southeastern Louisiana. FH entered the 2006 NFL Draft, but actually went undrafted most likely because of the small school that he attended. He was a member of the Buffalo Bills from 2007 through 2009. He has recorded one TD in preseason games. He was placed on injured reserve early in the season. He has yet to make his break in the NFL. Rams WR, Austin Pettis Interview

Austin Pettis was a starter since freshman year at Boise State from 2007 through 2010. He totaled 229 receptions and 2838 yards (which was ranks 2nd all-time in Boise State history). He also accumulated 39 touchdowns. He was selected twice as First-Team All-WAC in 2009 and 2010. He entered the 2011 NFL Draft, and was drafted in the 3rd round, 78th overall. During his rookie season with the Rams, he had 27 receptions for 256 yards.

Lions WR, Nate Burleson Interview

Nate Burleson played college football at Nevada. He entered the 2003 NFL Draft and was drafted in the third round by the Minnesota Vikings from 2003-2005. He also played for the Seahawks from 2006-2009 for his career. He is currently a member of the Detroit Lions. In 2010, he totaled 55 receptions, 625 yards, and 6 touchdowns. Former Patriots WR, Cedric Jones Interview

Cedric Jones played college football at Duke University. He entered the 1982 NFL Draft, and was selected in the 3rd round by the New England Patriots. He was a huge role player and possession wide receiver for the Patriots. He played in Super Bowl XX, but lost. Throughout his NFL career, he had 191 receptions, 2703 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Retired Ravens TE, Daniel Wilcox Interview (#50)

Daniel Wilcox was undrafted after the 2001 NFL Draft, but signed a contract with the New York Jets. In 2002, he became a Super Bowl Champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He remained on their roster in 2003. However, in 2004, he signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He played tight end for the Ravens until the 2008 NFL season. He was known for his red-zone production. DW caught Joe Flacco’s first ever NFL touchdown pass. Check out our interview that was done in 2010, looking back on his career. Read more »

Eagles fullback, Leonard Weaver Interview

Leonard Weaver played collegiately at Carson-Newman. He entered the 2005 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He earned a spot from the Seattle Seahawks and was a member of their team and learned from all-time great fullback, Mack Strong. He was hurt during the 2006 NFL season, but played great in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He signed a contract in 2009 making him the highest paid fullback in NFL history. Great LSU WR, Demetrius Byrd Interview

Demetrius Byrd played wide receiver for Louisiana State University. He first started playing at Pearl River Junior College and was a complete stud. He then played for LSU in 2008 and 2009 totaling over 1000 receiving yards, 11 touchdowns, and had 72 receptions. He entered the 2009 NFL Draft, but was selected in the 7th round by the San Diego Chargers. When he was drafted, he was in a coma after suffering a serious car accident. He signed with the San Diego Chargers, and was placed on the non-football injury reserve list. This interview was conducted before the 2010 NFL season. Read more »
