Rams Special Teams Ace, Dominique Curry Interview

Dominique Curry first attended college at Cheyney University. He was a great special teams player and wide receiver too. He then transferred to Division II powerhouse, California University of Pennsylvania. He was a stud on Special Teams. He then entered the 2010 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. Strauss : What was it like to make the 53-man roster on opening day?

Curry : It was a great feeling to make the 53 man roster… Something that I dreamed about for years!

Strauss : Can you take me through how you got open to make the block against the Redskins?

Curry : The block happened during the 3rd game of the season. It was a great feeling. For me to make a game changing play like that, it felt good.

Strauss : How has the rehab gone for your injury?

Curry : Rehab is going well, I will be ready to go for next season.

Strauss : If you could meet anyone, who would it be and why?

Curry : Jerry Rice, because I would like to know how he made such a transition from a small school to the NFL.

Strauss : Who was your childhood star?

Curry : Both Jerry Rice and Michael Jordan.

Strauss : What is your favorite type of pie?

Curry : Sweet Potato Pie

Strauss : What is your favorite TV-Show?

Curry : Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Strauss : What is your favorite video game?

Curry : The Madden Series.

Strauss : How long have you played football?

Curry : Since I was eleven years old.

Strauss : Did you play any other sports in high school?

Curry : I also played basketball and ran track and field.

Strauss : What is your favorite sport to play other than football?

Curry : Basketball, my father played basketball when I was growing up and my aunt was a Kodak All American in basketball.

Strauss : Describe the changes between high school football and college football.

Curry : Waking up early and going to classes

Strauss : What is your best memory from Cheyney University?

Curry : Hmm, playing in the HBCU Basketball Classic. Cheyney University vs. Lincoln University.

Strauss : Describe the changes between college and the NFL.

Curry : Adjusting to the speed and understanding the playbook.

Strauss : If you weren’t playing in the NFL (or after retirement), what would you want to do?

Curry : A Geographical Information Specialist or a Personal Trainer.

Strauss : What is an experience you have had that changed your life?

Curry : The birth of my son, Dom Jr.

Strauss : For someone aspiring to play football in the NFL, do you have any advice for them?

Curry : Work hard, because it really does pay off!
