There are countless examples of players making an impact on Sundays who were not drafted to start off their NFL career: Texans running back Arian Foster, Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker, Raiders wide receiver Josh Cribbs, Giants running back Ryan Grant, Bengals linebacker James Harrison, and Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz to name several. Abe Elam grew up in Palm Beach, Florida. AE played collegiately at Kent State University and was used as a punt returner and as a safety. He entered the 2005 NFL Draft, but was undrafted. He then signed with the Miami Dolphins, but was cut. He then signed with the Dallas Cowboys. Afterwards, he became a member of the New York Jets, and then was traded to the Cleveland Browns during the 2009 NFL Draft in the “Mark Sanchez Trade”.
