Traye Simmons first played junior college at the College of the Sequoias. He then transferred to play for the University of Minnesota. He entered the 2010 NFL Draft, but actually went undrafted. He signed a undrafted free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers. He didn’t end up making the final roster and was cut right after the Chargers’ preseason. Ernest Smith played wide receiver for Baylor University. After earning playing time throughout his four years at Baylor, ES entered the 2010 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. Curtis Brinkley played college football for Syracuse University. He was an all star running back for the Orange. He entered the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed with the San Diego Chargers, and didn’t end up making the final roster. He then signed with the Chargers’ practice squad. Throughout his rookie season he mixed between the active 53-man roster and practice squad. [UPDATE: He has earned more playing time as he career has gone on. Ali Highsmith played college football for Louisiana State University. He was a Butkus award semifinalist during his junior and senior year. In 2007, he was First-Team All-SEC. He entered the 2008 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals, appearing in six games during his rookie season. In 2009, he signed with the practice squad. Lance Leggett played college football for the University of Miami. He had about 85 receptions, 1379 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He entered the 2008 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. Dominic Douglas played college football for Mississippi State University. DD entered the 2009 NFL Draft, but actually went undrafted. He signed a UDFA contract with the St. Louis Rams after the draft. He made the practice squad player and remained there all year. He then was cut by the St. Louis Rams in 2010. Browns FS, Abe Elam Interview
Abe Elam grew up in Palm Beach, Florida. AE played collegiately at Kent State University and was used as a punt returner and as a safety. He entered the 2005 NFL Draft, but was undrafted. He then signed with the Miami Dolphins, but was cut. He then signed with the Dallas Cowboys. Afterwards, he became a member of the New York Jets, and then was traded to the Cleveland Browns during the 2009 NFL Draft in the “Mark Sanchez Trade”. Raiders S, Jerome Boyd Interview
Jerome Boyd was born in Los Angeles, California. JB played collegiately at the University of Oregon. He was a linebacker, but later made the switch the safety. He accumulated 178 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 8 pass deflections, and 6.5 sacks throughout his career with Oregon. He entered the 2009 NFL Draft, but was undrafted. He then earned a chance with the Oakland Raiders, and was placed on their practice squad in 2009. In 2010, he was cut by the Raiders. This interview was conducted before the 2010 NFL season.
